Family and maternity photos that are fun and relaxed. No A.I. smiles here.

Can I tell you a photography secret?

When you are actually having fun, the photos turn out better!

Maui Family Photographer

When we were kids, family photos meant standing still in matching outfits, forcing a smile. Needless to say, the times have changed. My approach as a photographer is to capture you having the time of your lives with your family in Maui and letting the kids be free. Fake smiles aren’t my vibe, and if you’re reading this, I’m guessing they’re not your family’s vibe, either.

There’s no reason to fake a smile on Maui.

But there are plenty of reasons to actually smile…

  • You’re here to hang out on a beach with people you love

  • There are infinite places to explore

  • There’s tons of magic for the kids to get into: sand castles to build, waves to splash mom and dad in, crabs to chase, sunsets to watch, you name it.

My style as a Photographer is less about focusing on “the” shot, and more about making sure you’re all having fun. I promise it’s possible to ditch the stress and still get good photos, even if your husband thinks he’s the most awkward person in the world and your kids are screaming 90% of the time. Seriously — I’ve got you.

What to expect during a shoot..

After we secure a date, I will contact you shortly after to try and nail down a location and a time (sunrise or sunset) based on your desires.

You will soon receive and What to Expect and What to Wear “Guide” that has some great tips to better help you prepare for your photoshoot.

You have an open line of communication with me if any questions come up before or after your photoshoot. (Even if you need any Maui suggestions, I gotcha)

“Shannon is an amazing photographer. She helps give direction and makes you feel comfortable, especially for those who are shy with a camera lens. She is patient and creative with little ones as well. She is very talented at capturing the moment, the connection between people, and the essence of who you are in relation to the surrounding landscape. I and my family will be coming back for more photos with Shannon!”

Frequently asked Questions…

  • You mean, what if your kids act like kids? Don’t worry about it. I’ve got two of my own, and I know how it goes. Big feelings happen, especially when there’s a camera around to capture them. Luckily, we’ve got plenty of time to allow for kids’ chaos and still get stunning shots. Snacks Snacks Snacks!! Bribery goes a long way with the little ones, and sometimes they just need a break. They usually come around eventually.

  • Yes, it’s a tropical climate and we get rain. The good thing is most of the time it passes very quickly. I am on top of it when it comes to checking the radar, and if it looks pretty bad at our original location, then we might have to change to a location that is not raining. If it is a storm and flash flooding, we can usually see this coming in advance and we will find another date to shoot.

  • Good thing I will send you a very detailed “guide” with some suggestions on what to wear after you book with me. But I always suggest you try to not be too matchy, but rather complement each other. Think of color pallets that look good with one another, yet match the environment you are in. I also suggest bringing a change of clothes and some towels if you plan on splashing in the water at the end of the shoot. The kids will most likely be getting wet, they can’t help themselves.
